Two free-scoring strikers face off Goodison Park on Saturday evening as Leeds United make the trip to face Everton, with Patrick Bamford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin two of the in-form men in the Premier League this season.

Not many expected Patrick Bamford to take to the top flight with Leeds in the manner that he has, with the Leeds striker taking exception to such criticism, but we’re seeing a completely ruthless streak to his game that simply wasn’t present in the Championship.

Scoring 16 league goals in the second tier in 19/20, Bamford looks like a different breed this season with his impressive tally after nine games standing at seven goals and one assist.

The piece de resistance so far on his top-flight return was a sumptuous hattrick away to Aston Villa, taking each goal in a manner we’ve been crying out for from the number nine, with one instinctive ‘right place, right time’ finish, and two outrageous efforts in and around a crowded penalty area.

His efforts are so much that he’s gathering momentum for a potential England callup, and if he keeps going in this manner, there’s no reason why he shouldn’t be considered.

He fired a blank last time out against Arsenal but came within the width of the goalpost from giving the Whites a much-deserved three points against the 10 men of the visitors.

Up next is a trip to Goodison Park for the Whites and Bamford will be in the mood to add to his tally against a side that has had issues with leaking goals too, as the Toffees sit on 16 goals conceded, only one better than Leeds’ 17.

An interesting stat has been revealed by the Premier League that Bamford could equal a record currently held by Thierry Henry of scoring in his first five away games of the season.

Having scored against Liverpool, Sheffield United, Aston Villa, and Crystal Palace, Everton would be the fifth team in Bamford’s run and would see him equal that tally.

It’s not going to be an easy game by any means, but Bamford’s red-hot form combined with Everton’s struggles at the back could make for a high-scoring affair at both ends of the pitch.
