The recently re-formed Charlton Athletic Ladies side were thoroughly beaten by a Leeds United Ladies side keen to get their season back on track.
The ladies side had their funding cut completely shortly after they represented the London club in the Women’s FA Cup Final with the relegation of the mens side blamed for the lack of available funding.
A sponsorship package was found in a similar vain to the Leeds ladies side, however unlike Leeds, Charlton have lost a number of their influential players, leaving just Kimberly Dixon as the remaining first team squad member from days of old. Dixion, 19 is now captain of a side that has been rebuilt following the Womens World Cup tournament in China, however they find themselves bottom of the league.
A double from Amanda Barr and goals from Katie Holtham, Jessica Clarke and Jade Moore did the damage against a side who prior to the match already had a goal difference of -27. The victory takes Leeds into 4th place with 10 points, 12 behind league leaders Bristol Academy who have played a whopping 6 extra games!
