Leeds United have taken to social media to hit back at claims of the side burning out from exhaustion, as they overcame Newcastle United in sumptuous style with a 5-2 win.

The Whites looked a tad concerning as they fell to back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and West Ham in the past fortnight saw Leeds slump to within six points of the relegation zone.

These losses came despite the fact that we took the lead in the third and sixth minute of these games respectively, only to throw away our lead as the Blues’ and Hammers’ dominance shone through.

This led to some criticism from neutrals that perhaps Leeds weren’t the side everyone thought they’d be under El Loco.

One of those critics was former Spurs and Villa boss Tim Sherwood, who spoke on Amazon Prime Video Sport about Leeds’ form and one key factor that he believed has caused it.

“Dare I say it, these look like they’ve blown a gasket already. They looked tired against West Ham. They’re supposed to be the fittest team in the League.”

We all know fitness isn’t the issue.

We proved fitness is not an issue by blowing away Newcastle on Wednesday night with five goals, four of which came in the second half.

Rodrigo and Dallas’ headers put Leeds in front on two occasions (2-1 and 3-2), before Gjanni Alioski and Jack Harrison put the game beyond the Magpies in the last six minutes.

Two blistering counter-attacks from Leeds put the game to bed, with five players queueing up to fire home the fourth following a break from a Newcastle corner.

Such scenes led to Leeds’ official Twitter account mocking Sherwood’s ‘blown gasket’ comments:
