A crazy second half saw Leeds United throw away an early lead to lose for the first time in League one, with manager Dennis Wise trying to take the positives from defeat.

Goals from Simon Hackney, Joe Garner and Marc Bridge-Wilkinson cancelled our Jermaine Beckford’s early opener as an impressive Carlisle United inflicted a league football defeat for the first time since Leeds United’s Championship days, ending the impressive 13-game unbeaten run.

Speaking to leedsunited.com, manager Dennis Wise was somewhat upbeat despite losing, claiming that it could be a useful lesson learnt for his squad: ‘Sometimes you need a wake-up call, and we got that in the last 35 minutes,’ ‘We needed that maybe.’

‘We’d not lost in 13, but it’s not going to be handed to you on a plate. We mustn’t stop doing what we’ve been doing, and we did in the second half.’

He went on to add: ‘We made some mistakes, but if you go 14 games and only lose one you’re going to make some mistakes. You hope it will go on forever, but it’s ended.

‘We’ve done fantastic so far, now we have to kick on again.’
