Leeds United are reportedly in the hunt to sign 17-year-old Valencia winger Yunus Musah after his electric start to life in La Liga.

Victor Orta’s transfer strategy after Leeds clinched promotion followed two paths; one was focused on bolstering Marcelo Bielsa’s squad for the Premier League, and the other on making sure the under-23s were heavily invested in.

The transfers have paid off so far in both regards, with Rodrigo Moreno, Robin Koch and Raphinha all shining early in their Leeds United careers. Along with that, the under-23s find themselves second in the PL2 Division 2 table.

November is drawing to a close and that means that January is moving ever-nearer, so speculation around potential transfers is heating up for Premier League clubs.

We know that Leeds might not be too keen to dip into the January transfer market, with Victor Orta’s comments recently about taking serious caution in January outlining the risks involved.

However, a report from 90min has linked a handful of Premier League outfits to former Arsenal academy player Yunus Musah, who is currently plying his trade in La Liga with Valencia.

Leeds, Everton, Arsenal, and Wolves are all interested in the 17-year-old after his bright start to the season, in which his goal earlier this month against Getafe made him Valencia’s youngest-ever goalscorer.

Having featured nine times in La Liga this season, you’d expect that Musah would fall into the first category of being a first-team signing for Bielsa, rather than him being chucked into the under-23s for the foreseeable future.

The report also details that the Spanish giants are eager to tie Musah down to a new contract, as you’d expect, and his value would inevitably soar if he stays at the Mestalla on a long-term deal.

January is a seller’s market with buying clubs rushing to get deals done, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t push for the odd signing if the door is open for it, like this transfer potentially could be.
