Following Jermaine Beckford’s late winner to take all 3 points away from the City Ground, manager Dennis Wise spoke of his pride at the effort displayed by his squad.

It was a case of right place, definitely the right time as Beckford went sliding in at the back post to convert an excellent defence-splitting ball from Seb Carole to fire Leeds ever-closer to that magical 0 points mark.

The defeat of the supposed league ‘favourites’ will have surprised a few, and without the points penalty imposed by the Football League, Leeds United would be currently top, with only Leyton Orient matching our unbeaten start to the season.

Talking to leedsunited.com, manager Dennis Wise was full of praise for the effort displayed: I was very proud of the lads,’ said the boss.

“We did okay in the first half, but we didn’t really perform in the second.

“We had a go, though, and it paid off. All the lads dug in deep and I’m chuffed to bits for Becks and Tres.

“Things went for us a bit – the fans were brilliant again as well – and we’ve got to keep doing what we’re doing.”
