Leeds United went into today’s trip to Pride Park knowing we had already clinched, and would be celebrating, automatic promotion back to the Premier League as Championship title winners.
Our long 16 year wait is over, and Argentine genius Marcelo Bielsa has led us back to the promised land and the question on many fans’ lips – is how high can we now go – it won’t be overnight, of course, but we want to have our eye on the top half of the table in time.
Derby were kind enough to give us a Guard of Honour in recognition of our achievements this season, but I can only imagine it stuck in their craw somewhat.
Despite the hosts taking the lead after a goalless first half, we sprung into life and made our far greater chances count, with Pablo Hernandez, Jamie Shackleton and an own goal taking us to a very comfortable 3-1 victory.
The perfect way to celebrate and again, nothing less than we deserved.
In Bielsa We Trust – can anyone deny it?
