Nigel Gibbs has left his role at Leeds United and he is heading for the courtrooms against the club claiming a breach of contract.
Gibbs, who was assistant manager to former manager Brian McDermott, stayed on at Elland Road and reported for the start of pre-season training at Thorp Arch towards the end of June but he hasn`t been seen since and he has now revealed that he has left the club.
A statement issued by Gibbs to the Yorkshire Evening Post reads, “I have terminated my employment with Leeds United in response to the way I have been treated by the club, which amounts to a breach of contract.
“I have put the matter in the hands of my legal advisors and in those circumstances it is inappropriate for me to make any further comment.”
Leeds owner Massimo Cellino says that Gibbs was not doing what he was asked to do in supporting new first team coach David Hockaday upon his arrival at Elland Road and when the Italian tried to sort out a severance package with Gibbs, he was asking for too much money.
