Leeds Suffer Injury Blow

Ian Westlake has broken his toe during a training session and is now likely to miss out on Leeds United’s trip to Carlisle United on Saturday afternoon.

Last weekend was the first time that Westy had had started a league fixture this season and had largely impressed the Leeds faithful. The injury to the former Ipswich midfielder reduces the number of options that boss Dennis Wise has in midfield, with Andrew Hughes, Alan Thompson and Radostin Kishishev all currently out of action.

‘Ian Westlake broke his toe on Monday,’ Wise admitted to Leedsunited.com

‘That’s a big disappointment for us, and for him, especially because he started his first game for a while last weekend. We’ll have to see and assess the situation.’

The injury may however provide an opportunity for Jonny Howson, whose impressive reserve team goal sealed all 3 points for the stiffs against Hartlepool United or the ever tricky Portugese winger Da Costa to stake a claim for a regular starting position.
