Both Tresor Kandol and Gary McAllister have moved quickly to deny that the striker feels his career lies elsewhere, and had gone AWOL following a bust up between player and manager.

Various media outlets were suggesting that Kandol has been missing since being “dropped” against Tranmere, something that the back-flipping big man denies.

Speaking to the official website, Leedsunited.com Kandol said:

‘I saw the stories on Wednesday morning and they are complete rubbish. I’ve been ill, everyone knew that, and the club knew that.

‘The stories say I’m unhappy because we’ve brought in another striker – I didn’t know who we had brought in because I’ve been ill and haven’t been here!

‘I’m perfectly happy here with the new gaffer. And the competition excites me. I don’t know where this stuff has come from.’

The story was backed up and re-iterated by new boss Gary McAllister who was similarly baffled by the reports:

‘Tresor has been ill. There’s been no bust-up.

‘He’s back now, he trained on Wednesday, and I’ll be glad to get him back in the squad.’
