Leeds Stay In Top Spot Despite Disappointing Defeat – Match Stats

|

After a busy week in the life of Leeds United with all the Spygate shenanigans, fans were allowed the distraction of an actual match earlier today as we made the trip to the Bet365 Stadium to face Stoke City.

After a goalless first half, Leeds clearly weren’t at their best and many will wonder if the issues during the week had played their part in that. Four minutes after the halftime break the hosts took a one goal advantage and although we had far more of the ball and greater chances overall, a lack of punch up front simply meant we didn’t test their goalkeeper enough.

A second yellow card for Pontus Jansson saw us reduced to ten men and Stoke tied the game up at 2-0 just a few minutes ahead of the 90.

In the fifth minute of stoppage-time, Ezgkan Alioski did grab a consolation goal and the match finished at 2-1 so I guess it’s all eyes back to Spygate now.
