It had been reported that Leeds United were in for Manchester City youngster Jack Harrison and that the expectation was a deal would be completed for the winger this week ahead of the Championship kick-off next weekend.

The move and his arrival was confirmed last night.

The Yorkshire Evening Post linked us with the player yesterday and said that the deal was on the ‘verge’ of being done and had I not noticed the deal had been announced – I’d have looked a little silly when this went live on Tuesday morning.

Having stated that a deal has been agreed between both clubs for a season-long loan deal after he was identified by gaffer Marcelo Bielsa, the 21-year-old underwent a medical on Monday and he obviously passed that with flying colours. He becomes our fourth capture of the summer.

Harrison spent two years in the US with sister club New York City before heading for the Etihad Stadium after impressing for them but he didn’t have a great time out with Middlesbrough last season – playing only four games but failing to get a full debut.

Whilst his spell in England hasn’t been a roaring success yet – in the MLS he scored 14 times in 54 appearances, with the addition of nine assists and he is left sided so many have assumed a replacement for Ezgjan Alioski.

Fans were certainly excited about his potential when news of our interest broke and having spent time as a schoolboy with Manchester United and Liverpool the lad has pedigree. Reactions to the confirmation of his arrival were just as optimistic.
