News has broken this morning that Leeds United have taken advantage of the loan system to bring a talented young midfielder to the club.
The BBC, has announced that the Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker will be playing his football at Elland Road for the 2018 / 2019 season.
Baker, 23-years-of-age, is no stranger to loan deals having previously spent spells at Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough, MK Dons and the Dutch club Vitesse Arnhem.
During his spell with Middlesbrough, Baker made twelve Championship appearances and, therefore, has experience at this level.
However, when it comes to making appearances for Chelsea the midfielder has been limited to just the one game from the bench.
Naturally, Baker is pleased to be joining Leeds and is quoted by our referenced source as having remarked,
“It’s a massive club with amazing history so it’s a good opportunity for me.”
Indeed, it is and with anticipation levels rising that this could be our season this time around, Baker has the ideal opportunity to play his part in what could be a memorable season for Leeds United.
However, my only reservations relating to the deal are that, despite his promise, his Chelsea career doesn’t ever appear to have gotten off the ground, could his ideal stomping ground be the Championship?
I guess we’re about to find out!
