The man who turned Leeds United down in January, Enoch Showunmi, has now joined the club on a two-year contract, having left Bristol City on a free transfer. Now suddenly, he seems quite keen on the ‘brilliant set-up.’

Showunmi, a Nigerian international (well, 2 caps) played 61 times for Bristol City, and scored a somewhat average 18 goals in that time, clearly impressing United boss Gary McAllister. The Leeds manager had stated he was looking to strengthen his squad, and that included a striker who has come in to replace Leon Constantine, who joined Northampton Town last week.

Showunmi told Leedsunited.com:

“When you look around it’s a brilliant set-up.”

“I’m delighted to be here. You only have to look at this club with its history and its fanbase to see how big it is.

“I’m raring to go and I’m looking forward to pre-season and playing games.”

Vital Leeds wonders just where a ratio of less than 0.3 goals a game will take us, however Showunmi was a key figure in Bristol`s League One promotion a couple of seasons ago. A brief look around the Bristol City fan sites suggest that they are generally un-fussed over losing the big man whose talent goes so far up the leagues, and are more worried at the decision to release Darren Byfield amongst others.
