According to the Liverpool Echo, the Whites are interested in Matthew Pennington once again after a loan spell with the club last season.

When we signed him I was impressed that we’d managed to bring him in as it had looked like he was going to breakthrough for the Blues.

However, that soon faded with a number of performances for us last season well below where we needed them to be.

Of course, it wasn’t just him that was below par last year but with that still raw in our minds, we should avoid last season’s dramas as much as possible where we can.

It’s time, then, to swerve a deal for the defender.

The Verdict

Pennington might still end up being a decent player but I don’t think it is worth the risk.

If he struggles again it’s only going to hamper us and ruin his career that bit more so why not let him go elsewhere and start afresh?
