According to SpursWeb and The Scottish Sun, Leeds United are set to beat the London club in the race for highly-rated young goalkeeper Rory Mahady.

The Celtic 16-year-old stopper has attracted a lot of interest from clubs outside of Scotland after impressive performances for their development sides. He has represented Scotland at both U16 and U17 levels even though he hasn’t played a competitive fixture for The Bhoys. He took to social media this week to announce he is leaving Parkhead after 9 years at the academy.

It is believed that Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are keeping tabs on the youngster, but it appears Leeds United have won the race to sign him.

The article states ‘The Sun have now claimed that Spurs are one of the clubs who are looking to snap up the teenager, who is now a free agent. It is explained that the North London club face competition from Manchester City for Mahady but it is Leeds United who are expected to win the race for the goalkeeper as he gets set to sign his first professional contract.’

Another great prospect being linked with Leeds United. The club are pushing to create a great assembly line of youth coming through the academy set up into the U21s and eventually into the first team. If he signs his first professional contract at Elland Road, it will be exciting to see Mahady make his way through the system at Leeds and we will look forward to seeing his progression at the club.
