Leeds United have rejected the chance to sign out-of-contract midfielder Barry Nicholson.

Aberdeen have offered out the midfielder to clubs as he reaches the end of his current contract this summer, with the 30-year old former Rangers player looking for a new challenge.

The Yorkshire Evening Post have reported that Leeds United have turned down the opportunity to bring Nicholson to Elland Road. They add that Championship side Preston North End look favourites to take the player on.

Meanwhile Anthony Elding looks to be departing Leeds United, as reported on Vital Leeds, a fee has been agreed with Crewe Alex for the former Stockport County striker who has remained somewhat “out of favour” with Gary McAllister since his move in January.

Unfortunately Nicky Maynard is not thought to be any part of that deal.
