Leeds poor form after the international break this season continued as they were beaten 1-0 at fellow promotion hopefuls Reading.

Yann Kermogant scored the only goal of the game in the first half for Reading, as Leeds made it four straight defeats from their four games following the international break this season.

Kyle Bartley and Alfonso Pedraza both had early chances to put Leeds ahead. Bartley put his free header into the side netting with the goalkeeper beaten and Pedraza snatched his shot wide from the edge of the area.

John Swift had the home sides best chance of the opening 20 minutes but he fired well wide of the target.

Reading scored the only goal of the game on 21 minutes. Charlie Taylor could only head the ball back into a dangerous area after being caught out of position at a throw in and Kermogant fired home from the edge of the area.

Rob Green kept Leeds in the game, denying Roy Beerens and then Garath McCleary, who both had in behind the Leeds defence.

Leeds had a great chance to equalise but Pablo Hernandez could only turn the ball over from close range after Pedraza found him with an inch perfect cross.

Kermogant almost scored a second in first half injury time but his low shot clipped the outside of the post.

Leeds started the second half with more impetus with Chris Wood becoming involved in attack after being starved of the ball in the first half but it was Reading that came closest to scoring, and once again, Green did well to deny Beerens who had found space in the Leeds area.

Pablo Hernandez, Ronaldo Vieira and Souleymane Doukara all had weak efforts easily saved by Reading goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi as Reading clinched the three points and leapfrogged Leeds in the Championship table.
