The Yorkshire Evening Post have reported that Andrea Radrizzani has splashed the cash and acquired further rights for his Eleven Sports broadcast vehicle.

Having previously won the rights in the United Kingdom to show Serie A and La Liga games, he has now added the Dutch Eredivisie and Chinese Super League to the companies portfolio. Having created the company back in 2015 they now boast a number of television deals across Europe and beyond and it’s clearly a successful business for him and he’d have been delighted with their recent captures – however, the words Radrizzani and capture don’t go hand in hand when it comes to Leeds United at the moment.

With Lewis Baker and Jamal Blackman coming in for season-long loan spells, fans are crying out for some permanent signings to boost the quality in the first-team group and actually give them something to boost the optimism ahead of the coming 2018/19 Championship campaign.

To be fair, I doubt Radrizzani negotiated Eleven Sports’ deal here, and I very much doubt he’s playing Football Manager and running simulations on Marcelo Bielsa’s target shortlist – that’s what he employs management teams for – but whilst fans see no progress, as owner he’ll take the flak.

Here’s a selection of some of the best comments on social media as the news broke.
