Leeds United made the trip to the Midlands earlier today to face Birmingham City at St Andrew’s Stadium in our final game of 2019, and the travelling fans were treated to a bit of a humdinger.
We established a 2-0 lead inside of the opening 25 minutes courtesy of goals from Helder Costa and Jack Harrison. Birmingham rallied slightly and pulled one back just ahead of the half hour mark and we had the advantage going into the break.
Second half, the game sparked more into life, and after the hosts had levelled the scores, Luke Ayling (69) restored our lead. Birmingham again levelled the scores, so Stuart Dallas took his opportunity to make it 4-3.
We weren’t done there though, and neither were the hosts. One minute into stoppage time they thought they had salvaged a point at 4-4 but a late own goal gave us the win and all three points, and we lift ourselves into top spot in the process.
Now for 2020.
