According to the latest reports from GiveMeSport and transfer insider Dean Jones, Leeds will want to double down on their stance of not entertaining offers or approaches for their star goalkeeper Illan Meslier.

As reported in Foot Mercato [via GiveMeSport], Chelsea are among the top-sides in the market for a new goalkeeper, and Meslier is said to be one of the names on their potential target list.

Not too long ago you would have said Edouard Mendy would be one of the first names on the Chelsea team sheet. However, after a loss of form and now uncertainty surrounding the Senegal goalkeeper’s future, its no surprise that the Blues are weighing up their options and looking at recruiting a new Number One.

Leeds have been firm in shutting down any transfer rumours emerging around French goalkeeper Illan Meslier, and it is understood that this will continue to be the club’s stance.

Meslier, 22, played all 38 games in the Premier League last season, and hasn’t missed a minute of top-flight action so far this season. In 2020-21, he became the first goalkeeper to register 11 clean sheets under the age of 21.

There is no question that it would be a massive task for Leeds to try and replace such a talented and young goalkeeper, and the club and fans alike will continue to hope this is something they don’t need to worry about anytime soon.

According to Salary Sport [via GMS], Meslier earns a reported £40,000 per week. Should links with the likes of Chelsea continue to emerge, you would have to imagine that the Whites will soon be looking at a new contract extension for their fan-favourite French goalkeeper.
