Leeds look set to give up hope of signing talented Belgian forward Charles De Keteleare, according to LeedsNews.

It is now looking likely they will be turning their attention to PSG attacker Arnaud Kalimuendo.

‘Leeds United throw in towel in race to sign Charles De Ketelaere, will now push for Arnaud Kalimuendo.’

Leeds showed a brief period of interest earlier in the transfer window for the French star who has spent the last two seasons on loan at Lens. There are rumours of a bid having already been rejected by PSG for a fee believed to be around £17m.  The deal for Charles De Keteleare looks to be dead in the water as the player prefers a switch to Italian giants AC Milan, however they are yet to reach any agreement with Club Brugge, or to match the bid from Leeds which is rumoured to be around £30m.

Arnaud Kalimuendo comes with good experience, he has played two full seasons in Ligue 1 with Lens after only a handful of appearances for his parent club PSG.  Whilst on loan at Lens he made 63 appearances, scoring 19 goals and registering 5 assists. He has also played for his country at U16, U17, U18 and U21 levels, but is still yet to be called up to the France senior team.

Leeds are on the hunt for a striker and Kalimuendo looks to fit the bill for Jesse Marsch’s squad.  With Patrick Bamford, Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Rodrigo as options up top for The Whites, they look well balanced in that area, but with Bamford missing most of last season, Gelhardt and Greenwood being youngsters and Rodrigo not really living up to his hefty price tag, they certainly need new blood in attack.

‘Leeds United have thrown in the towel in the race to sign Club Brugge forward Charles De Ketelaere.’

Leeds need to move on from De Keteleare, and Kalimuendo looks to be an ideal replacement.  It will be interesting to see if Leeds can bring in the highly rated 20 year old, and to see how he would fair in the Premier League.

Recap: Raphinha expected in Spain.
