According to L’Equipe, Leeds United are looking to beat the likes of Premier League side Wolves and Championship leaders Norwich to Brentford man Yoann Barbet.
The Whites have been excellent this season but look set to fall short at the final couple of hurdles in terms of the top two race.
Even so, we can still get in the Premier League for next season and, even if we don’t, we still need to try and strengthen this side.
Signing Barbet, then, would really show we mean business in doing that.
A class defender for Brentford, he is being eyed by some top sides and is available on a free in the summer window – making him an even more attractive proposition.
Can the Whites beat the likes of Wolves to the signing, that is the question we’ll all be wondering about and, if they can, it shows we’ve still got that pulling factor.
Certainly, it’s a deal that would reaffirm our ambition.
