Former West Bromwich Albion Academy graduate Tyler Roberts has had to be patient following his move to Leeds United.

Having swapped The Hawthorns for Elland Road in last January’s transfer window for a reported £2.5million, he didn’t make a single appearance for us in 2017/18 after he was struck by injury.
Having fully recovered and worked hard in training he has featured twice in 2018/19 for manager Marcelo Bielsa, but he tasted defeat (our first of the new season so far) in Tuesday EFL Cup second round tie with fellow Championship side Preston North End.
The week did get considerably better for him though on Wednesday as Wales announced their senior international squad that will take in games against the Republic of Ireland and Denmark during September’s break and Roberts has received his maiden call-up for his country.
Taking to social media to reflect on a topsy-turvy week, Roberts tweeted out the following.

Despite his obvious joy at the news, leading and finishing with disappointment on a Leeds front went over well with the faithful.
If he wants to score against Ireland, let him ????

A Leeds United number 11 being called up to the @FAWales squad? That's some fine footsteps to follow in! Go and crush it @official_tyro

And he's been injured and barely played so I'm glad someone at wales is giving him the opportunity rather than throwing him under a bus already. He's highly rated and come through the ranks at wales so I'd think they're better qualified to make that decision than armchair coaches

Confidence Tyro. We try to play the game in the right way but don't be bullied and why not be the man who wins the battles. Do not accpet defeat. Be the best you can be. COME ON LEEDS

It’s fair to say a number of fans were confused at the call-up owing to his time out injured and limited game time so far but having come through the youth setups they obviously want to take a closer look at him and give him that ‘taste’ to drive him on further. I wouldn’t expect pitch time, that would be the cherry on top, but being amongst the group should do wonders for his confidence and Leeds will benefit from that down the line.
