Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa raised the eyebrows of a few fans prior to Wednesday evening’s clash with Ipswich Town at Elland Road as given the starting lineup, many fans believed that Ezgjan Alioski was set the start in the left wingback position.
That was exactly where the 26-year-old did begin in the match and he put in a rather impressive performance that left a number of fans showering praise on him. There were also plenty of references to the fact that maybe it’s the ideal position for him given it’s far more difficult for him to be caught offside but there can often be an element of truth in jest.
In any event, he was more than worthy of his praise for his efforts on the day as he certainly put the yards in to do his job and for a number of fans he’s a far better option in the absence of Barry Douglas than Stuart Dallas.
I think alioski has found his calling.what a performance, best engine I’ve seen in a Leeds player since lee bowyer

Except he’s right footed mate ????
I don’t think Samu would do the hard work Alioski does, end product might be better agreed but I don’t think he has the energy levels required.

I know, but the answer won't be Saiz on the left. Glad Pearce got 30+ minutes yesterday, but rather have Alioski v Forest. Small steps.

Thought Phillips was class last night. Cooper, Pablo, Alioski, Forshaw excellent too. Big Saiz fan but he looked tired last night. Give him a rest and put forshaw in against forest IMO. #lufc

Agreed. Still not sold on Harrison – he does too much nothing – and I’ll never be sold on Alioski unless as a wing back or left back, where I think he’s been much better. Our end product is still hit and miss.

We’ll have to see if Bielsa sticks or twists for Nottingham Forest at the weekend.
