Leeds looking into possible Premier League double swoop for £22.5m-rated duo – report

|

Leeds have been heavily linked with interest in Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Helder Costa of late, and a deal for the 25-year-old has appeared to gain serious momentum recently.

The Benfica product may not be the only Wolves wide man moving to Elland Road for the new campaign, though, as freelance journalist Michael Helprin understands United are also looking into the possibilities of bringing Costa’s teammate Ivan Cavaleiro to West Yorkshire as well.

Helprin adds that our efforts to bring Costa to the club could even be completed by the end of next week, which follows claims that the £13.5million-rated ace wants to join us in a bid to kick-start his career.

The one-time Portugal international’s career has somewhat begun to stagnate, having struggled for game time in the top-flight following his promotion from the Championship with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.

In truth, the same can be said for his £9million-rated teammate Cavaleiro, who made two fewer appearances in the Premier League than Costa, but his minutes on the field were a staggering 663 down. That is why the 25-year-old, who spent a year with AS Monaco before moving to Molineux in 2016, wants to leave the Black Country side this summer.

This is not the first time we have been linked with Cavaleiro, either. It was suggested back in January that United would try their hand at landing his signature, as a deal for Dan James was proving difficult to get going. Although, the now-former Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay later revealed that a move for the Portuguese winger never got started.

It remains to be seen if the same situation develops in the coming weeks, but Cavaleiro’s time with Wolves is seemingly up, as it has been reported the Black Country side are looking to cash in on either his or Costa’s contract this summer.

However, if they demand one is sold – as has been claimed – it would be improbable that Cavaleiro joins his teammate at Elland Road next term after he was deemed too expensive in January.
