It’s been reported this week that Leeds United have joined a list of clubs looking at Southampton Academy graduate Sam Gallagher.

The 23-year-old is believed to be surplus to requirements at St Mary’s Stadium now as manager Ralph Hasenhuttl approaches his first summer transfer window at the club and the youngster is reportedly available for around the £5million mark.

The trainee has been highly rated for a while but for his age, game time and real experience does appear to be an issue but looking around some Southampton sites plenty feel he was held back by former managers after the club lost its own focus on youth, but he has had semi successful spells out with Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham City in former years.

It would be a punt but given manager Marcelo Bielsa and his effect on others at Elland Road, if we made a move for Gallagher you’d back Bielsa to get him back on track and to get the best out of him…but for £5million, I’m not convinced here.
