With Leeds United looking to build on the positives from the 2018/19 Championship campaign, despite it ending in disappointment and frustration on a promotion front, plenty of people are already turning their eyes to next season and hopefully another year under manager Marcelo Bielsa.

With Leeds needing to strengthen this summer given how we know a lack of options when injuries hit was the ultimate cause of our downfall as our efforts simply caught up with us and we weren’t as clinical as we should’ve been given our usual dominance in matches, with doubts over the future of Pontus Jansson, and hot headed Gaetano Berardi, we were always light on experience in defence anyway as many fans pointed out in both transfer windows.

One link that surfaced the other week was Brentford’s soon to be free agent Yoann Barbet, and the speculation won’t go away as French outfit L’Equipe have again linked the 26-year-old with a switch to Elland Road, despite us not reaching the Premier League.

Whether their coverage can be relied upon is another matter as they also took the opportunity to have a dig at ‘El Loco’ for falling again at the last hurdle, describing it as a ‘habit’, so even though Barbet could be a useful addition, I’m guessing they are just tapping into Bielsa here for views.
