Leeds lining up eight-figure bid for 16-goal winger

|

Leeds are set to make an offer to Rangers for the signing of winger Ryan Kent, a report from The Sun has claimed.

Kent first joined Rangers from Liverpool on loan in the summer of 2018, before making his move to Ibrox permanent 12 months later.

In total, Kent has scored 16 goals in 80 appearances in all competitions for the club, and it seems the 23-year-old has an admirer at Elland Road in the shape of Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa.

According to the latest reports, Bielsa is keen to bring Kent to Leeds ahead of the clubs return to the Premier League next month, having previously tried to sign the winger twice since his appointment in Yorkshire.

It is thought that Leeds will now look to make it third time lucky here, with the club apparently set to present a £10million offer for Kent to Rangers, as they look to strengthen their squad for the coming campaign in English football’s top-flight.

Kent himself is said to be settled at Rangers, although it has been suggested that a switch to the Premier League would be a dream move to the Premier League, and it remains to be seen if that will play a part in these negotiations.

There are currently three years remaining on Kent’s contract with Rangers, putting the club – who are reportedly only willing to sell for big money this summer – in a strong position to negotiate any offers.

While there can be no doubting that Kent has potential, this does seem as though it may be a slightly risky move to make, given he never always impressed during his loan spells in the EFL prior to that move to Scotland.

Even so, if Bielsa wants to bring Kent to Elland Road then you would be inclined to trust his judgement given past events during his time at the club.

Indeed, considering the fact that signing his targets will no doubt help convince him to sign a new contract with Leeds, this is one you imagine the club will be looking to get done quickly.
