Leeds are one of several clubs interested in signing young attacking midfielder Mike Tresor Ndayishimiye from Dutch outfit Willem II, reports from the player’s native Belgium have claimed.

Having joined Willem II on loan from fellow Dutch outfit NEC Nijmegen last summer, and made his move permanent the following January.

The 21-year-old enjoyed an outstanding season that saw him score nine goals and provide six assists in just 23 appearances in all competitions, something which appears to attracted attention, from a number of European sides, including Leeds.

According to the latest reports from Het Laatste Nieuws, as per Walfoot, Leeds are among the clubs interested in Ndayishimiye, along with fellow Premier League side Wolves, Italian outfit Hellas Verona and Belgian duo Standard Liege and Gent.

It is thought that Ndayishimiye could be available for a fee in the region of £6.2million, which could remove some competition for the attacker’s signature for Leeds, with Liege and Gent apparently unable to afford that fee.

Given his encouraging return for Willam II last season, this could be a useful deal for the Whites to complete, as they continue to look to add an attacking midfielder to their side ahead of their return to the Premier League.

A number of high profile names have been mentioned as candidates to fill that role, and while Ndayishimiye might not generate the same sort of reaction as them, he would seemingly be a cheaper option for them to target.

That being said, you feel the Whites will want to lay down a marker with their recruitment if possible, meaning this may not be their preferred option to take up that position, although you wonder if they could still look to bring Ndayashimiye to Yorkshire as a potential future star.
