Leeds United boss Dennis Wise has found the answer to David Healy’s goal scoring problems when it comes to Championship football. A beaming Wisey was pictured at Windsor Park and now he hopes that he can take his International form back to Elland Road, and if he can manage it, a few thousand Northern Irishmen.

‘If we had those 14,000 Irish fans in addition to our usual Leeds fans, we’d be top of the league.’

‘He just hasn’t had the luck with Leeds, he’s been hitting shots like that for us and they’ve been hitting the bar. He’s an instinctive striker, he can pull a goal out of nothing.

Even BBC Sport has pointed out the massive gulf in goal scoring between Euro 2008 qualifying and Championship struggles, but Wise is more upbeat. ‘Everyone loves him, just let him concentrate on doing the brilliant job he’s been doing.

‘He’s an instinctive striker, he can pull a goal out of nothing.’
