According to TeamTalk, Sean Clare will not be joining Aston Villa now in a boost for us and other potential suitors.
The midfielder is free to leave Sheffield Wednesday this summer and is yet to decide what he wants to do.
He could, of course, decide to stay with the Owls but you’d have thought that he does want to move on as otherwise, he’d have already signed.
We’re linked with him, then, but so are the likes of Wolves and Everton and so there could be quite the battle on to get him.
The Verdict
I’d take Clare but I’m not too fussed if we don’t bring him in, to be honest.
He’s a good player but I don’t think he’d actually play every week if we manage to sign him and he does still have plenty to prove.
He’s a player worth looking at, but certainly not key to our fortunes next season – that’s for sure.
