Leeds Fans Praised For Behaviour

With local police forces nation-wide quivering at the thought of Leeds United visiting their town’s football club during this League One season, it is good to see that at least one club, one PC is aware that the vast majority of Whites supporters are nothing like the muppets that marred Leeds’ Championship fixture against Ipswich Town.

The official club website Leedsunited.com has published a letter sent to them by a Macclesfield policeman who had talked to a number of Macc Town fans about their cup exit, and they had only good things to say about those who made the journey to Cheshire.

The letter in full reads: ‘Having policed the last Macclesfield game Vs MK Dons, I was pleased to hear so many Macclesfield fans and stewards sing the praises of the visiting Leeds united fans earlier in the week despite their cup exit.

‘It is obvious to say that some of the terrible demeanour of fans from the eighties still tarnish the fans reputation away from Elland road. But there is a definite upturn in the way Leeds fans are now perceived.

‘When I asked the fans and stewards what they thought of the travelling support and the manner in which they conducted themselves, I received only favourable comments and not one negative remark about how the fans behaved from arrival in the town right through to post match banter.

‘In fact some of the Macclesfield fans were so impressed the even stated that they thought the fans to be some of the most polite and supportive of any they have had at the ground that they could remember.

‘Well done away match followers you are a credit to the club.’

Well that’s one club convinced, perhaps we can convince a few more as we go along and stop the mad ticket, travel and most importantly, pub restrictions that are being imposed wherever The Whites go.
