Leeds fans deserve better?don`t they?
Anyone else having feelings of Deja vu? I feel like we`ve been in the position where we`re looking for a new manager time and time again. It must just be the Leeds way, as Thomas Christiansen lasted just eight months.
That would be a bit harsh on the board though as the writing has been on the wall for Christiansen for a while now and he was given time to turn things around, namely when things started to turn sour in October/November where we lost seven of nine matches.
So, here we are again. The search for a new manager has emerged again and the appointment of Barnsley`s Paul Heckingbottom has certainly raised more than a few eyebrows.
This was a chance for us to make a statement, to show that we`re serious about our ambitions of returning to the Premier League for the first time since 2004. As such, the appointment of a manager whose side are currently struggling for survival in the Championship doesn`t really stand out as decisive.
Heckingbottom has done a brilliant job at Barnsley, winning the Football League Trophy in 2016 and earning promotion from League One in the same season. He certainly deserves credit; however, the job at Leeds is a different kettle of fish altogether so I am at a loss as to why we didn`t identify a potential manager with necessary experience of guiding clubs out of the Championship – as opposed to taking a punt on potential?
So am I alone in my frustrations and being totally underwhelmed about this appointment? Leeds United fans surely deserve better than this?don`t we?
