Leeds fan shows class gesture towards ex-pro online

Over the weekend, and this is a sentence I never really thought I’d write, Dominic Matteo was sent a poem on Instagram about his time at the club.

The defender spent four years at Elland Road and was part of a team that enjoyed fine spells both in Europe and in this country.

Certainly, he was part of the last truly great Leeds side with him going to the likes of Valencia and Milan with the Whites and impressing.

His goal against the Italian side will always be fondly remembered, too, and on Instagram he was sent this poem over the weekend:

Certainly, you don’t expect to see this every day but, even so, it’s a nice way of looking at a career that spanned some big clubs and some big occasions.

He’s still a keen follower of Leeds and hopefully this season he’ll see us return to the Premier League.
