Leeds face losing out on young talent as club ponders making a move – Report

|

This is turning into a rather ugly affair if you ask me.

According to a report in The Daily Mirror, 18-year-old Jack Clarke is set to be recalled by parent club Tottenham Hotspur in January because of his lack of minutes since his move back to Elland Road. The report later goes on to say:

“Spurs and Clarke’s camp are reviewing his situation because the teenage winger has yet to play a single minute of league action for Leeds this season. Clarke is believed to be frustrated at being left in the stands and feels he is being ignored by Bielsa. It is understood that Bielsa has not spoken to him to explain why he keeps leaving him out.”

I have spoken before about the problems surrounding Clarke, and in that article I said that it would be best that Clarke should be allowed to go back to Spurs because I feel like we should keep up a good relationship with them. For instance, if we wanted to take someone on loan from them in the future that could be crucial to the team, more crucial than Clarke is proving to be, then we run the risk of missing out because they won’t trust us in looking after their player.

Now though, it looks like the matter is going to be taken out of our own hands as Spurs look set to do the heavy work for us by recalling him rather than us sending him back. If that happens, then so be it, I’d rather us keep up a good relationship with a Premier League club and have another loan spot freed up so that we can use it elsewhere.

This is something that could easily be resolved by giving him more minutes in the first team, but seeing as Leeds are doing so well in the league without him, I can’t see Marcelo Bielsa throwing him in there just to keep Spurs happy.

What about you? Do you think that Clarke should be recalled Tottenham in January? Or do you think that a little bit more action between now and then might be able to put these rumours to bed somewhat?
