Leeds Enjoy A Pleasing Fixture List For 2019/20 In My Humble Opinion

|

On Thursday, the EFL released the Championship fixtures for the coming 2019/20 campaign and in fairness to us, having had time to properly look at them, I’m not sure there’s much to fear going into the new campaign.

We open, as fans will be aware, against mouthpiece Lee Johnson’s Bristol City side and he’s already taken full advantage (click Here) to try and get the banter going ahead of the game.

Derby County seemed more interested in the September and April meets than Leeds fans did, but no surprise there. With that said, with them being the final away game of the campaign that could become a story in itself after last year!

The obvious fixtures stand out, and we enjoy Elland Road against Preston North End on Boxing Day, but we don’t enjoy home comforts as we tick into 2020 as we travel to West Bromwich Albion on New Year’s Day.

The season closes against Charlton Athletic.

But looking through the months, the presumed more difficult ties and bigger clubs that you’d expect to be in the 2019/20 promotion battle are pretty evening spread throughout the months and maybe it’s just a glass half full outlook, but there’s not a crush of games that looks dicey – outside of those runs where freshness will become an issue owing to so many games in a shorter period of time.

Given how poor the relegated Premier League teams are, with them in two blocks I don’t see the worry there either.

I’d say it’s in our hands to go one step further than 2018/19 – we just have to seize it.

For the fifth year running we are live on Sky on opening day so that routine from the broadcasters continues, which is nice.
