Leeds entertained Northampton Town in their final home game of the season before the Play offs begin.

Fabian Delph had Leeds first effort in the first few minutes, some fantastic skill and the curling shot saw the ball just miss the target.

Leeds were enjoying long periods of possession without ever threatening the Northampton goal in the first half hour.

The biggest scare for Leeds was when Ben Parker was hurt in a tackle and needed lengthy treatment.

Jermaine Beckford who had scored four goals in two games against today`s opposition earlier in the season had to wait till just past the half hour, he was denied by some desperate Northampton defending.

Rui Marques had Leeds next effort but he was denied by Dunn in the Northampton goal.

Leeds were beginning to threaten the goal and Robinson had an effort saved.

Within seconds Leeds had made the breakthrough, Luciano Becchio headed them into a deserved first half lead.

The first half came to an end soon after, the goal might make the second half more open with Northampton prior to the goal happy to pack their defence knowing a point would be enough to keep them up.

Northampton looked a bit more ambitious at the start of the second half and Gutteridge`s shot just went wide with Ankergren beaten.

Northampton continued to look for an equaliser, the way other results were going in the Division they were currently in the relegation places.

Jermaine Beckford scored his 34th goal of the season when he gave the keeper no chance from just inside the box with just under an hour on the clock.

Robert Snodgrass wrapped up the game in the last few minutes with a fantastic volley.

Leeds record their eleventh straight home win in a row and go into the Play offs full of confidence.

The win moves Leeds into fourth place and they will play Millwall in the Play off semi finals.
