Leeds’ Douglas Out of International

Jonathan Douglas will not feature for the Republic of Ireland this weekend after suffering an injury in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy defeat by Bury.

Douglas had been expected to join up with the manager less Ireland squad as they prepare to take on Wales in what is essentially a pointless fixture for both sides as neither have any chance of making it to the Euro 2008 finals. However the stand-in captain has stayed on at Thorp Arch with an undisclosed injury problem

The injury to Douglas provides an even greater selection headache for Dennis Wise as Leeds start to look lightweight in midfield. Alan Thompson and Shaun Derry both played 90 minutes for the Leeds United reserve team on Wednesday however it will be somewhat of a risk to throw either or both players straight back into league action. Radostin Kishishev and Andy Hughes are both back in training following their respective injury problems.
