Former Leeds United defender, and past captain Paul Butler has had his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Butler arrived back from MK Don’s on New Years day but was deemed surplus to requirements and is now a free agent. The defender was one of Kevin Blackwell’s first signings at the club and was given the captaincy straight away.

However with the new manager came new changes and Dennis Wise gave the captain’s armband to Kevin Nicholls, who then decided he didn’t fancy playing over Christmas, picking up a 3-game suspension!

It is not known where Paul Butler is likely to end up, though a reasonable guess could be back to the League Two wandering ex-Wombles.

Vital Leeds would like to wish ‘Butts’ all the best wherever he will end up!
