Leeds defender ‘carrying an injury’ ahead of Saturday’s meeting with QPR

Ezgjan Alioski is ‘carrying (an) injury’ ahead of Leeds United’s meeting with Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. According to George Smith of Leeds Live, the 27-year-old could miss out against the Hoops if he’s not passed fit in time.

Marcelo Bielsa said in Thursday’s press conference: “Alioski has some little problems as well – Alioski (has a problem) in the side.”

It’s bad timing for Marcelo Bielsa as Barry Douglas is also doubtful with a knee problem. Stuart Dallas may have to deputise at left-back if the pair are unavailable.

Alioski has been a regular this season, making 13 Championship appearances and contributing three goals. As per WhoScored, he’s created 17 chances, boasts a 57% dribble success rate and has whipped in 37 crosses.

With Leeds being short of goals this season, Alioski’s absence is a loss. The Whites have scored 17 goals in 14 Championship games and have netted one or less in their last seven.

Bielsa hasn’t ruled the 27-year-old out of featuring against QPR, however. He’s described Alioski’s problem as “little” which suggests there’s still a chance of him making the matchday squad.

Leeds have won just one of their last four games so they can’t afford to fall short when the Hoops come to Elland Road.
