Leeds dealt blow as rumoured target’s stance emerges

|

Rangers winger Ryan Kent has told the Scottish club that he will snub interest from Leeds to remain at Ibrox, a report from Football Insider has claimed.

Having been a target for Leeds earlier in the summer transfer window, it was recently reported that the Whites could renew their interest in Kent if they are unable to secure a deal for Manchester United’s Daniel James, although it now seems that that may not be successful either.

According to the latest reports, Kent has told Rangers that he intends to reject any attempt from Leeds to bring him to Elland Road this summer.

It is thought that the winger is keen to show loyalty to Rangers manager Steven Gerrard for the faith he has shown in him over the past few years, and as such will continue to continue to play for him beyond the close of the current transfer window.

As such this will surely be a source of frustration for Leeds, who are still looking for a winger to add to their attacking options for the remainder of the campaign.

The prolific way in which Kent has started the campaign for Rangers suggests that he would have been a decent option to fill that role, and with a breakthrough seemingly not close for James either, they are starting to run out of targets somewhat.

Admittedly, you do have to admire Kent for his willingness to back his manager, despite the fact that playing in the Premier League with a side such as Leeds is likely to have been appealing to him, although that is unlikely to be much consolation for Leeds considering the challenge they are still facing.
