Leeds Could Lose Top Spot But There’s No Reason To Panic

|

Leeds United had to show the other side to their game once again as we entertained Brentford at Elland Road for today’s early Championship kick-off.

After a scoreless first half, the visitors took the lead just after the hour mark as Neal Maupay dispatched a penalty after the referee harshly adjusted goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell to have fouled Ollie Watkins.

Pontus Jansson had us back on level terms with only two minutes remaining in regulation time as he connected with an Ezgjan Alioski delivery, but despite being reduced to ten men as Luke Ayling saw red for two bookable offences in stoppage-time, we held on for the point.

Brentford certainly gave us a game though and they tested BPF more than we managed to test their goalkeeper, but I think plenty will take the positives from a more gutsy showing even if we know we can be better.

Again, missing Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe through injury is seeing us be wasteful up top, but we are keeping ourselves ticking over and even if results elsewhere today see us slip from top spot, we are only 12 games in.
