Leeds could be without 26-year-old against Queens Park Rangers, player ‘has ankle problem’

|

Leeds United could be without Patrick Bamford against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. Marcelo Bielsa confirmed the 26-year-old is struggling with an ankle injury and may need time to recover. Bamford has featured in every Championship game this season but is likely to make way for Eddie Nketiah.

In quotes reported by George Smith of Leeds Live, Bielsa said: “Bamford has a little problem in the ankle.” The former England u21 international has made 14 appearances in 2019/20, scoring and creating five goals. Bamford has been goalless since August, however, so his absence may not hurt Leeds.

Nketiah, on the other hand, has been in fine form. Since joining on loan from Arsenal, the 20-year-old has four goals & assists in 10 substitute appearances. He averages a goal or assist every 65 minutes in the Championship and has been waiting patiently to start a league game.

Supporters have been clamouring for Nketiah to be given a chance from the off and it appears they’ll get their wish on Saturday. Leeds are desperate for goals. They’ve scored just 17 times in 14 games, netting one or less in each of their last seven league outings, so Nketiah could key against QPR.
