One regular piece of rumour mill transfer speculation for Leeds United has been Ander Iturraspe.
The 30-year-old Spanish international worked with manager Marcelo Bielsa during their time together at La Liga side Athletic Bilbao and the speculation has always mostly hinged on that, with very little otherwise in terms of any real ‘news’ that would imply our interest was firm.
The rumours returned this summer purely on the back of his club confirming that he would be departing them this year as they weren’t renewing his contract, so we saw a massive return to the lazy speculation for a few weeks until things naturally went quiet once again.
With him available as a free transfer it was even reported that the player would be interested in the English challenge, and wouldn’t be against a Bielsa reunion but with it being angled to only if we were in the Premier League, it wasn’t very believable.

With Espanyol announcing his capture on Monday, we can now stick a pin in this one properly, however, there will definitely be those fans who feel we may have missed a trick if Kalvin Phillips doesn’t sign his new deal and ultimately moves on, but that’s a question for another day.
