Leeds United were easily brushed aside as Manchester City flexed their muscles in the FA Cup at the Etihad Stadium.

City showed their intentions before the game with boss Roberto Mancini putting out a strong attacking line-up.

The game was never in doubt as City opened the scoring inside five minutes. Yaya Toure traded passes with Carlos Tevez before going around Jamie Ashdown in the Leeds goal and firing into an empty net.

The contest was over after seventeen minutes when Tom Lees conceded a penalty after the slightest of tugs on Sergio Aguero. Aguero stepped up to send Ashdown the wrong way.

The home side could have added two or three more before half time with Aguero, Garcia and Yaya Toure all going close.

Leeds best opportunity of the afternoon came on the stroke of half time when they were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area. Ross McCormack stepped up but he fired his shot straight at Costel Pantilimon.

Tevez added a third early in the second half when he bundled in from close range after City carved open the Leeds defence.

Jack Rodwell came close to adding a fourth when his header came back off the bar after Ashdown had made a good save to deny Yaya Toure.

Luke Varney had Leeds best chance of a consolation goal in the second half but he headed over from close range after a good ball in by Aidy White.

Aguero scored his second of the afternoon when he got in behind the Leeds defence and shoot in off a post.

Substitute Edin Dzeko came close to adding a fifth in the closing moments but Ashdown made a good save down to his left.

Referee Mark Clattenberg blew the full time whistle soon afterwards to put Leeds out of their misery after being totally outclassed.
