Leeds United bowed out of the Carabao Cup but only after giving Premier League side Leicester City a scare at the King Power Stadium.

Pablo Hernandez fired Leeds ahead on 26 minutes with a superb strike from 25-yards but Leicester hit back to secure their place in the next round with goals from Kelechi Iheanacho, Islam Slimani and Riyad Mahrez.

Leeds started brightly and they should have gone ahead when Jay-Roy Grot got in behind the Leicester defence but he could only fire straight at Ben Hamer.

Hernandez fired Leeds ahead when he made himself space before firing an unstoppable shot past Hamer.

Leeds lead lasted just four minutes. Iheanacho fired home from the edge of the area after Felix Wiedwald could only half clear with his legs after a ball over the top of the Leeds defence.

Demarai Gray then hit the crossbar for Leicester as the home side took control of the game.

Slimani then missed a great chance for the home side when he could only head wide from just a yard out but he did put the home side ahead with just 19 minutes remaining when he fired home after being teed up by Gray.

Leicester made the game safe with just 2 minutes remaining when Mahrez cut in from the right before firing past Wiedwald.
