Leeds boss hopes for January cheer

Losing 2-0 to Sunderland hurt, firstly I don’t particularly like that part of the world, two, we were once Premiership teams and neither look particularly on their way to restoring that.

23rd place is the home for Leeds United, a very far cry from Champions League football. This hasn’t dented Dennis Wise’ mood. No doubt he’s had some extra turkey and is feeling fine.

‘At the present moment, it all seems to be falling down on us but there’s only one way for us and that’s up.’

(I don’t think the ex-Swindon boss has quite realised there`s one more spot we can go down to!)

We’re struggling for goals and now things seem to be going from bad to worse. Jonathan Douglas has now managed 10 yellow cards already, therefore misses two games. Gus Poyet has also been in trouble with the officials, for some reason he threw a ball onto the pitch whilst Sunderland were attacking. Just what he was thinking giving them two options to score…my my.

I do jest. We need to get behind the boys as much as we can. A whole half a season to go yet, the Great Escape is still on!

Here’s a joke to (try to) cheer us all up:

Q: What has Old Trafford on a Saturday afternoon at 4.45pm got in common with Wormwood Scrubs Prison?

A: They are both full of cockneys trying to get out.
