Leeds United suffered their second heavy defeat in the space of five days as they went down to a 3-0 defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

Two goals from Gary Hooper and one from Kieran Lee ensured Sheffield Wednesday claimed the points.

Leeds started brightly and Ezgjan Alioski and Kalvin Phillips both had headed chances but failed to keep their efforts on target.

The hosts went ahead on 25 minutes when Hooper found space at the back post and he poked the ball past Felix Wiedwald.

The home side thought they had doubled their lead soon afterwards when Lee got in behind the Leeds defence but the assistant wrongly gave him offside.

Hooper netted his second of the game before the break when he once again found space at the back post and this time he guided his header home.

Leeds started the second half brightly and Pierre-Michel Lasogga had a great chance to pull a goal back for the whites but his low shot came back off the post.

Samu Saiz twice went close for Leeds with one effort drifted just wide whilst Wednesday keeper Wildsmith saved his near post effort.

Pontus Jansson then had an effort cleared off the line by Lee.

Wednesday almost put the game beyond doubt. Hooper was denied his hat-trick by Wiedwald and then Barry Bannan saw his effort hit the post.

Lee made the game safe for the hosts inside the final ten minutes when he pounced on a sloppy pass by Eunan O`Kane and he fired home from 25-yards.

Hooper had one more chance to complete his hat-trick but this time he was denied by the crossbar.
