Leeds and Brighton have both submitted offers for Lazio full-back Jordan Lukaku, according to a report from Italian outlet Il Messaggero.

Lukaku, who is the brother of former Manchester United and current Inter Milan striker Romelu, has made 85 appearances in all competitions for Lazio since joining the club back in 2016.

Now it seems as though the left-back is attracting plenty of attention from England, with the latest reports claiming that both Leeds and Brighton have tabled offers for the 26-year-old to Lazio.

It is thought that both clubs have bid somewhere in the region of €5million for Lukaku, who has also won eight caps for Belgium at senior international level, although the last of those came back in October 2016.

As things stand, there are two years remaining on Lukaku’s contract with Lazio, meaning the Serie A side are in a decent position to negotiate any offers that officially come in for the defender.

On the face of it, this does seem like a slightly strange target to be identified for Leeds, given the current make-up of their squad.

With Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski and Barry Douglas all currently on their books, it doesn’t really seem as though the Whites need to add another left-back as things stand.

That being said, if they can get this deal done for €5million, it does mean they will adding another reliable asset to the side for a relatively small price, and getting one over on Brighton could be rather satisfying in the aftermath of the Ben White saga.
